Dear Amelia,
The months following the council meeting were quiet. There were no more hostile take overs. The council was getting better at communicating with me as well.
With things finally calming down, I finally had time to think about everything. I thought about the last nine years and how much has changed. And then I remembered that Jordan was supposed to take Grace to Disneyland. He never had the chance with everything that happened. And after everything Jordan has done for me, I thought it was fair to give him a vacation.
I planned everything. A two week vacation for him and his family. I paid for everything- except the entry to Disneyland since he already bought the tickets. I knew that wasn’t enough to thank him, but it was a start. And I threw in a little extra.
There was also another council meeting with the wolves, and that went a lot better than the previous one. When it was over and everyone left, Alpha Parker stayed. He was Jordan’s alpha before Jordan joined the tribe officially, and now he was on the council. He wanted to speak to me privately. And Amelia, you have to understand that “privately” always included Jordan. However, the matter he wanted to discuss involved Jordan’s family, so I had Jordan leave.
What Alpha Parker told me wasn’t as surprising as I thought it would be… at first. Jordan never lied to me about who he was. From the very beginning, when we first met on campus, he told me who he was. What he did for a living. He was an assassin, hitman, bounty hunter or whatever you want to call it. He also told me about his parents. I knew what he and his family did before he met me, and to some extent, I understood. But Jordan is my guardian, and I know him. He’s a good man. He has morals.
Still, I was pissed to see the contract Jordan’s parents signed with Alpha Parker to wipe out an entire pack. Jordan never told me that. And that pissed me off more. Because I thought he told me everything. And I was also mad at Alpha Parker for hiring them to do that. Especially since he didn’t help out when I asked for support in fighting Darius. It was hypocritical.
The thing was, I trusted Jordan with my life. I knew he wouldn’t lie to me. But his parents were another story. So, after meeting and talking with Alpha Parker, Jordan met me in my office to talk. I asked him if he told me everything about the job he did for Alpha Parker in exchange for membership into his pack. He told me yes, and I believed him. I also knew that meant he didn’t know everything, so I showed him the contract that Alpha Parker gave me.
Jordan’s reaction told me everything I needed to know. He wasn’t lying. And he even asked me to look through his memories for proof. I didn’t need to. What I needed was to talk to his parents. Alpha Parker believed they were hired to do the same to other packs, to make them easier to take over. And maybe he was right. Maybe it wasn’t Colton behind the missing alphas and lunas. Maybe other alphas were hiring them to do the same thing Alpha Parker did for selfish reasons.
Amelia, I think it’s important that you know that Jordan’s parents are not ruthless killers. Most of the jobs they took involved hybrids, and they have never killed a single hybrid. They explained what happened that day, which was consistent with what Jordan told me. And they filled in the blanks. They are not bad people, Amelia. But they were the center of the investigation, and there was only so much I could do to protect them without abusing my authority. And I did everything possible.
Aside from the meetings and trainings and my duties to the tribe, I spent all my free time at Black Forest. It was weird at first because some of the people who used to bully me wanted to see me all the time. And we trained together until I got used to it. They were apologetic, and I could tell they meant it. Most of them only did it because they were forced to by Erica, Casey and Jason.
Everywhere I went in Black Forest, I was asked about my Luna ceremony. When it was going to be, if I would be staying in Black Forest permanently, and more. I didn’t have an answer for them, because I honestly didn’t have time to plan for it. I was too busy planning my wedding.
