Dear Amelia,
After getting home from Mexico and treating Tristan to ice cream, we had a meeting with Farrah to catch her up to speed. I asked her to be my beta, and she agreed. And then we talked about Colton.
Farrah suggested that Colton was using Jordan to weaken me. It made sense. No one knew about our bond, but it was very clear that I trust Jordan. We presumed Colton put some sort of spell on Jordan so he would become hostile towards me which would lead to one of us killing the other. If I would have killed Jordan, that would have messed me up. That would have been my weakness.
Devyn had trackers watching and following Colton. I had Jordan put together a team to aid them. Farrah was still in charge of finding Katrina. And Devyn and I were going back to Black Forest to talk to his betas for more information. Oh, and Stella was trying to get in contact with Vasilia since Gaia and her mother weren’t answering her.
Sadie is a hybrid, but you already know that. For me though, I never knew what she could do. I didn’t know what side was dominant. And it was our first time officially meeting. I know, Amelia, as may times as I’ve been to Black Forest, we never ran into each other. But I always knew about her, because Devyn told me. I was happy to finally meet her.
Anyway, I found out that Sadie could absorb and analyze magic. It is truly a magnificent power, and it was very convenient. I brought Jordan to see if Sadie could absorb and dissect the magic we suspected was used on him. The only issue was that Jordan has come into contact with so much magic throughout his life that Sadie had to sort it all just to find the answer.
But Sadie is Sadie. And I learned pretty quickly how capable she is. She sorted all the magic, leaving only two options for the unidentified magic. The first option was fae magic. The second was hybrid magic. We told her to keep an eye out for similar magic while she paid a visit to her cousin for her undercover mission.
Jordan and I left Black Forest after that and went home. It was the first time in a long time that we had time for just us. We were together all the time, yes. But we were never alone. And when we were alone, it was always business. We never had time to just hang out and talk anymore, and I missed it. Just like I’m sure you miss the days when Tristan would take you out on a brother-sister date. Those moments are precious. Just hanging out and talking shit to each other.
But the playful banter didn’t last long. He asked me what I would do if Devyn found a second chance mate. It was something I dreaded. I knew I wouldn’t get one. My only options were taking a chosen or waiting until James came back. But Devyn was a different story. And I felt bad for hoping that he wouldn’t find one; or worse, I hoped he would reject her and choose me if he did have one. That truth made me feel selfish and horribe.
Jordan assured me that it was okay for me to feel that way. And that only led to more questions I didn’t want to think about. If Devyn chose me, what happens next? Does he leave Black Forest and move to Willow Lake? Do I leave Willow Lake and move to Black Forest? I couldn’t leave and he couldn’t leave. Who would run the tribe? And who would run the pack? Devyn didn’t have an heir. He didn’t even have a gamma.
I knew Jordan was just looking out for me like he always had. Thinking about it now, it reminds me of you and Malachi. I know Mali is technically your uncle, but you grew up like siblings.
Anyways, although it doesn’t always seem like it, Jordan has always been my biggest supporter, and I his. We learned how to be a family together. We were both in messed up situations growing up, and we understand each other in a way I don’t think anyone ever will. That’s why I cherish him so much. Even when we pick on each other.
