Dear Amelia,
If you want to thank anyone for pushing me into a relationship with Devyn, don’t thank Jordan. Thank your brother.
When we finally made it back home from Mexico, Devyn and I took Tristan out for ice cream. Do you know what your brother did when we got there? He asked Devyn to be his dad because I was taking too long to give him an answer. Devyn obviously said yes.
Devyn later confessed to me that he was going to follow me to WSU. He said that even before he found out Casey was his mate, and before I found James, his heart belonged to me- his words not mine. And honestly, it was the same for me.
Of course, when I found James, everything changed. But I think deep down there were still some feelings for Devyn that I couldn’t explain. Or maybe I could. I just passed it off as appreciation for being the only person who didn’t hate me, bully me, or treat me badly. I know now that it was more than that. I loved him. It was why I could never hate him.
To be honest, I think I would have suppressed my feelings and kept Devyn at an arms length if it wasn’t for Tristan. His blessing and approval changed everything. It helped me let go of some of my guilt.
Amelia, I’ll be honest with you, I always held onto hope that James would be reincarnated. I prayed everyday that he’d come back to me. I knew that I could end up waiting many lifetimes for him. It could be centuries before he finally came back. And I was willing to wait.
Devyn was there. He was always there, waiting and willing to love me and Tristan unconditionally. He already loved us and did everything for us, as long as I let him. So, with Tristan’s blessing, I gave in.
I know you hate to give Tristan credit for anything, but I can’t say that he wasn’t a determining factor in our relationship. I could ignore Jordan, and everyone else. But I couldn’t ignore Tristan’s wishes. Just like I can’t ignore yours. If I could, I wouldn’t be writing these letters every week.
