Dear Amelia,
It took me a while to write this letter. Mostly because I don’t have much left to say. But I feel like there wasn’t much closure from the last letter. So I’ll make this the last one, and any other questions you have, I’d suggest you ask your father.
If you think everything was all sunshine and rainbows after my wedding, you’re wrong. I had to deal with your teenage years, and Tristan’s. Not to mention my early 100’s and the both of yours. And then there was all that family drama with my dad’s side of the family.
I know you’re curious about if they showed up to my Luna ceremony at Black Forest. Yes they did, because it was mandatory. My cousins tried to make up with me, but we never got close. And my grandma, well, she didn’t care that I was Queen or Luna. And Dad disowned her.
Aside from the family drama back then, there was another fae situation. You know all about that since DJ involved herself with the pack at the center of it. And then she brought all of us in it somehow. She’s so spoiled, Amelia. And she’s always getting her way with us.
As much as I wanted to help, there was only so much information I could give them. Things are a little different now, since those fae now reside here and have a place in the council. But the sentiment remains the same. It’s safer if we keep things to ourselves. So, again, I ask that you burn these letters once you’ve read them. And burn my diary while you’re at it.
There’s nothing more I can tell you that you don’t already know. James was never reincarnated, and I believe there’s a reason for that. I never had an issue with Macey either. There’s been times where I tried to reach her in my mind, and I never could find her. I like to believe that she’s somewhere with James, keeping him company.
You’ve witnessed first hand where the love your father and I share has gone. And after all these years, he’s still the same man who I fell in love with as a child, and again as an adult. He’s still the love of my life.
I know that sounds weird given James was also my first love in a sense. He was my fated mate, the only fated mate I would ever have. And don’t get me wrong, I still love him. I always will. He gave me Tristan. But when I think about it, I believe James was in my life for a purpose besides being my mate.
James showed me that I am worth something. He showed me I was capable of being loved. And he loved me loud. He showed me how to accept myself, and love myself. He showed me how to accept love from others, and how to trust others. And most of all, he showed me what true love is. He showed me that by making the ultimate sacrifice when he died for me. He put me above himself, and I will never not love him for that and everything else he’s done for me.
Devyn always loved me. He loved me when it was hard. He loved me quietly. But he loved me deeply. Devyn showed me how it feels to be loved in everything that I am. He loved me at my greatest, and even more at my lowest. Even when he was mated, he loved me more. Even when he knew I wasn’t available for him, he still loved me. And now, he loves me loudly.
It’s hard to explain- being in love twice. But what I’ve come to realize is that the love I shared with both your’s and Tristan’s fathers, was something I needed desperately. I don’t think I could love Devyn this much if I didn’t love James. And I don’t think I could have accepted his love if I didn’t accept James’s. James healed me, so that I could be everything Devyn needed. That’s what I choose to believe.
And I love Devyn so much. I would still do anything for him; give him anything, even the world if he asked for it. And yes, I love you and Tristan immensely, but both of you left me, and Devyn is still here. I’m sure you can understand now that DJ is living her own life, as are you. The love is never ending. Just different. When everyone leaves you, your mate is the one who stays, and that means something.
Amelia, happily-ever-afters do exist. And once you recognize it, it’s the most precious, and the most beautiful thing ever. Life becomes a blessing after that. And it makes eternity worth it. You, your brother, my grandchildren, my family and my friends are my happily-ever-after.
Devyn is my happily-ever-after.
With overwhelming love,
~Mom
