Dear Amelia,

Devyn had finally found a gamma. Can you believe that he ran Black Forest alone for so long? Well, he did have some help from Jacob- James’s best friend who is a beta by blood from James’s pack- in the beginning, until he found Alex. And then it took years before he found Leon. For nine years, he was doing more than just his alpha duties. Not to mention he took care of the tribe after the war ended as well.

I know he doesn’t believe it, he’s too humble to admit it, but your dad is truly amazing. And that’s an understatement. He’s one of the strongest people I know. He lost his mate, became alpha and immediately lost his ranked members, and fought a war. Then when the war ended, his parents disappeared, leaving him to take care of Black Forest alone. And as I abandoned my responsibilities to grieve James, Devyn took care of Willow Lake all by himself.

Devyn had to be the alpha, luna, beta and gamma all at once. And queen since I was gone. He was hurt, confused, and only 19. Honestly, even to this day, I look up to him. I don’t know if I could do what he did. On top of everything he did, he also took on being Tristan’s dad and my love.

That’s why I want to give him the easiest life possible. It’s why I do whatever it is he asks of me. Because he deserves that and so much more. That’s why you will never see me not support him. I am proud of him, Amelia. And I love him so much, words are not enough to express how immense my feelings are for him.

So, Devyn found a gamma and was planning the ceremony. I got the invitation, but so much was going on at home and I was distracted. They hybrids were starting to gain abilities from their other genes. Like Sadie.

The biggest issue were the vampire hybrids. The ones who never needed blood before now needed blood desperately. I bought so much, and it wasn’t enough. I had to organize a blood drive just to have enough to sustain the tribe. Every hybrid was affected, and we didn’t know why.

All I could think to do was put together classes for them to learn about their other half. Unlike me, they didn’t to school to learn about both of their sides. Most of them never went to school growing up because they were in hiding. Or they went to human schools.

The whole ordeal made me realize that although I was ostracized growing up, I was lucky that I was able to go to both wolf and vampire school. And I was lucky that I had both of my parents in life. Most hybrids didn’t. They were hunted, and witnessed their parents being killed. We had to do better.

Anyway, I was so busy with the tribe that I hadn’t seen Devyn in days. I missed him, but I had so much business to deal with in the tribe that I couldn’t visit Devyn. And he was busy planning the gamma ceremony.

I didn’t sleep for days, and I only took a break to hunt for blood so I could keep going. I wasn’t going to use the blood that was donated, that was for the vampire hybrids. When I made it back to my room to wash up after my hunt, I was surprised to see Devyn there. The mere sight of him made me feel like I could breath again. That’s the affect he has on me. When things get bad, he helps me breath.

Devyn told me he wasn’t staying though, and it made me sad. Apparently, Gaia told him that I hadn’t slept in days and she thought he could make me get some rest. But I still had things to do. And I told him I would rest when I was done. But, Devyn was good at putting me to bed. And after some one-on-one time, I was out cold.

Yes Amelia, I am sparing you the details. I promise I won’t scar you…. But you’re grown, so get over it. I love you.

Dear Diary, I don’t know what to do. That Jordan kid sees right through me somehow. He saw through my masking potion, my mark and my lies. I tried my best to pretend to be human, but then he went and showed me his wolf. As if that wasn’t enough, Gaia took over my body…

Dear Amelia, The next time I saw Devyn, we talked about us. It was a conversation we avoided for far too long. Questions about how we were going to make our relationship work. There was no question on whether or not we loved each other, or if we were a good match. The question was…

Dear Diary, College was great at first. Emphasis on ‘was’. At first, I was enjoying being free and and meeting new people who didn’t judge me the second they met me. But then I had to start wearing brown contacts because people were too fascinated with my eyes, and the attention became annoying. I felt…

Dear Amelia, Your father survived, obviously since you’re here. I assumed Sadie made it to him just in time. As soon as I felt the pressure around my neck release, her storm and illusions on the battlefield were gone. I searched for the bond, it was still there, but just barely. Devyn was nearly dead,…

Dear Diary, It seems like so much keeps happening in short periods of time. On my birthday, James asked me to be his wife. He also bought us a home in Washington – the state not D.C – so I could be closer to school and still come home to him. He is literally the…

Dear Amelia, I told you I would eventually tell you details that were left out that would make things make sense later. Well, now it’s later. The only way for everything to make sense has everything to do with what I’m about to tell you in the next few letters. It was the start of…
